Privacy policy

Common Threads is a project of GetUp and Australian Progress.

The information you share with us will be used by GetUp and Australian Progress for the purposes of the Common Threads project.

In line with the Australian Privacy Principles, as outlined in the Privacy Act 1988, here’s an outline of the type of information we’ll collect, why we’re collecting and how we’ll use it.

How we collect information

  • When you register to attend the Common Threads summit.

  • When you ask for extra information for events or workshops, such as, through a form on this website.

  • When you email us at info@commonthreads.org.au.

  • When you speak to us.

  • Via website cookies, and through social media engagement.

WHAT WE COLLECT

  • Your name, email and/or phone number, when disclosed to us through event registration.

  • Your job role and organisation (if applicable).

  • Records of your participation in our programs, such as events you attended.

  • Details we need to enable your participation, such as accessibility information.

  • Information on your contact preferences, how we have contacted you, and the results of such contact.

Why we collect it

  • To promote relevant opportunities of interest to you.

  • To manage incoming inquiries (such as, your interest to take part in events and workshops), and ensure we have responded appropriately.

  • To evaluate our reach and impact, in line with the goals of the Common Threads project.

  • To provide insights to support our planning and design relevant programs, such as future programs to build and strengthen First Nations advocacy capacity.

WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT

  • Financial information, such as credit card details (these may or may not be retained by third parties such as Stripe or Humanitix, dependent on their own privacy policies and your choices).

Where we store data

  • In our organisational CRM databases.

We may also store information in other third-party, cloud-based applications, such as Eventbrite, Humanitix, Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, Google Apps, FormAssembly, Squarespace and Stripe. Some servers may be overseas.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH

  • We will not sell or rent your contact information or personal data to any third parties.

  • We may provide your information on time-limited basis to nonprofit partners to enable us to deliver our programs, such as, a partner who may be helping to recruit for events and workshops.

  • We may provide your information to a contractor on a time-limited basis for a specific purpose such as recruitment to an event, such as, a telemarketing company.

  • We occasionally provide partners of our events with lists of attendees to enable them to evaluate the opportunity to take part, whether Organisation/Title or in some cases Name/Organisation/Title; however do not simultaneously provide personal contact information.

Your data

  • We will update the data we have on you, such as, correcting an email address or employer. Given our limited resources, we ask for your patience as this may take up to 30 days to process.

  • We will unsubscribe you (a specific email address or phone) from receiving information if you ask us to in writing.

  • We will provide access to a listing of the personal information we have collected within 30 days.

  • At your request, we can delete all the information we have on you; we cannot delete partial information.
